Nigeria has over 300 languages with three main languages been Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa.
There has been many business alliances formed between people speaking these languages and also inter-marriages between Nigerians and other nationalities are becoming more common.
The increasing number of Nigerians living overseas have made it imperative to develop this software to preserve the culture.
It is anticipated that SORO will help to reduce communication barriers between Nigerians, other nationalities and enhance business and personal relationships.
The application also includes a lifestyle information library which is similar to an electronic document management system. This allows the storage and retrieval of any electronic files such as images, pictures, video recordings and any other files into SORO.
When using the LifeStyle Information Library all features of the Language system can also be used. Most importantly information (record)
can be saved in up to four versions, for example four different pictures of an event can be saved to create a family record/information.

SORO - Nigeria which includes the lifestyle information Library has been developed to preserve legacy data for the next generation of Nigerians and non Nigerians. Learning to speak other languages helps to develop relationships and preserve cultures. SORO was developed to preserve languages in their original formats and also promote the correct pronunciations and writing of words within such languages.
Main features of the application are:
• Translate English sentences to Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba by using a patent pending algorithm.
• Reverse Translation of Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba sentences to English by using a patent pending algorithm.
• Recording and Playback of audio data, dialogue and multimedia files such as video, extended audio information or pictures and provides electronic document management. SORO NIGERIA also includes audio pronunciations of over 3000 words/phrases in Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba
• Translate exact meaning of English words/phrases to Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba languages; by identifying words with multiple meanings in English or other languages and provides appropriate translation matching each meaning.
For instance "address" has 18 meanings in English but SORO allows the user to match "kedů ebe ibi" in Igbo directly to the 4th meaning of "address" which means “place of residence” instead of the 3rd meaning that implies “manner of speaking to another person”.
• Use of accented keyboard which is a special keyboard that allows users to write/learn Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa accented characters/alphabets.
• Allows words/phrases to be searched for in categories such as "Travel", "Accommodation", and “Greetings” etc. to simplify Language learning and allows structured language teaching program to be set up and delivered to the user in pre-arranged order by grouping words/phrases into Structured Categories
• Advance database searching that allows searches for non-accented characters to find accented characters.
• Add/Edit translated written and audio data to suit local dialect.
• The Graphical User Interface (GUI) of SORO is divided into three main area Display, Searching and Translation thus allowing all main features to be used from one GUI.
• Language Translation that is so versatile that it teaches the culture of the people
LifeStyle Information Library
Allows documentation of Family history, Special events e.g. wedding, naming ceremony and Food recipes etc. using audio and video recordings. This can be used to record the following activities:
• Family Tree (Genealogy)
•Special events e.g. Wedding, graduation or naming ceremony photographs or video recording
•Children Activities (including school, sporting, academic and other achievement photos and video)
• Food recipes
• General Information about country and place of birth
• Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa and other proverbs and poems.
• Nigerian Folklore and stories.
• Special Occasions Diary (e.g. Birthdays etc.)
• Address Book.
• Allows users to create and modify existing Categories and Information to suit their Lifestyle.
